Inspired by pencil shavings, these delicate mini flowers by Haruka Misawa are each unique sculptures made from paper.
We love how whimsical and yet technical and precise each flower seems to be. It’s incredible that this almost robotic system of creation produces such organic results, but the concise layers still reference the mechanical origins.
Pencil Shavings Florals
These pencil shaving florals give the look of having been painstakingly painted and it’s easy to get lost in the intricacy of their ‘petals’.
Though not a literal translation to fabric, we love how the Harper Poppy linen echoes a similar impression. The color platte and botanical themes are spot on in this pairing!
To take the inspiration a step further how great would it be to create your own paper flowers, inspired by the work of Misawa or otherwise, to use as centerpieces? So many possibilities!
